A special mention deserves the historic route which takes from Siracusa to Ragusa, passing by Scicli, Noto, Modica and crossing the Noto Valley, currently the largest world UNESCO site. Thanks to the money raised through a Tv marathon, 7 historic sites in Sicily could be recovered. Part of the money was invested for the realization of a beautiful locomotive, with two wagons for passengers and an exhibition wagon. The project aimed at the revitalisation of the Siracusa-Modica-Ragusa line, dating from the end of the 19th century.
The itinerary of the train winds through breathtaking sceneries, and allows passengers to take a view from the “inside” of the landscape and the architectural beauties of the largest Baroque site in Europe.
The train operates all Sundays until the end of September. The 112 km path is completely free. In connection with the train departure, every Sunday all museums and architectural sites spread along the itinerary will be open.
